Hello, as you know freelancer is exe file.BUT im on Linux operation system and i cant install.When im starting intalation file and move my mouse the installation is crashing.Anyone can help. Thanks!

Freelancer was only build for Windows, so you can't install it only Linux like on Windows.
You have to use tools like Wine to run it.

However, as far as I know nobody ever managed to run Freelancer on Linux in Multiplayer, especially on the HHC.

Hmmm.. i searched at other Freelancer fan forums and it tells PlayOnLinux( windows gaming and other launcher) you can install from there but Servers and FLMM cannot be found.I dont think that will happen. :/

It's already a few days old, but since there was no closing solution for this, I may add some info I collected myself when I installed wine under OS X.

It appears that wine does not properly support DirectPlay, which means that FL does run well in single player under certain wine versions. However, without a proper DirectPlay, there is no working ip connection, subsequently no servers available.
People from the wine development are kind of looking for someone to port this missing feature to wine, though.

Alternatively, you can use Virtualbox under Linux and install windows there.

If you have another machine with Windows installed you can use Steam In-Home Streaming as well.
Not the best solution though.

I just found an article on the DirectPay bug in wine.

Actually, just the wine tricks DirectPlay package wasn't really doing the trick for me, but the manual installation of the missing dll's (from an older XP installation) may work.

Seems that using native dll's as well as ensuring proper registry settings are essential. Please see this list of comment: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4066

Haven't tested it yet, but will try soon and confirm if that enables multiplayer for freelancer.

Really? You have access to a local server? Can you please post more details?
I tried it under OS X and it didn't work for me (today)...

add these four dlls to the dll overrides list in winecfg. Make sure they are added globally, not specific to an application, otherwise dplaysvr.exe will use the wrong dlls.

Part 2:
Downgrade FL DX9->DX8 (HHC MOD) with classic Freelancer files.
