that would definately be an interesting feature. but i think there'll be a problem with the server-performence. you would have to reduce random npc-spawns.
please post some precise suggestions about what you have in mind about:
maximum wingmen-number:
skill and ship:
for how long or how far the wingmen escort a player:
the price of 1 wingmen, depending on strenght, skill etc.
it's a great idea but it would only make sense if trader really dould use kit as a kind of defence against taxers. in that case we need some real heavy armed fighters like outcasts, KGS or HHC-police as an escort  |

Hm what about NPC's at Clanbases who can be buyed by the Clan. They can so protect Base against Idel Basekill lamers ^^
Maybe 1 NPC who respawn from base 50 Millions. Max 4 NPC's.... |

Max escorts could be 2 Seth Fighters with same weapon layout as HHC npc and aim as nomads, to make attacker move or even get forced to move his ass and kill npcs first, which would buy some time for cruiser or train to get away.
I dont know how much escort could cost so i let this decission to community if they like the idea.
Wingmans could be active from 1 point to another( so undock and dock ? ) for trains maybe /convoy and npc would get for their escort 200k per escort.
For cruisers i think it would be cool that clan buys 1 escort for 20 mill and they could use it where they need it.
example: Clan buys 2 escorts for 40 mill and they own them, Than clan could launch 1 or 2 escorts for certain cruiser or transport to protect |

Yea maybe npcs could spawn with transport/repair ship and defend repair ship against everything thats hostile or open fire on him or base  |

Yes, landalas is right in this point.
It was also a topic in the discussion whether the cruiser gets some turret-slots for defending, but there was everything denied - and thats, in my opinion, good that it was denied.  |

against this idea
why?
if u want play with npc's make missi or play singleplayer
i play mp cause i'm want play with humans (friendly or hostile^^)
u want defence for a base or an escort ? ask clanmembers or friendly freelancer
otherwise next step of this "evolution": why cant npc's fly the trade-missis and/or clan-missis, cause is bored (espacial for pirates )
and the winner as the first lvl89-npc-char is .....
PS: Remember the Story of Terminator ... The biggest Clan in Freelancer (the NPC) will take the absolut Domination over the Humans in Sirius  |

This idea might be as "interesting" as you want, but it's neither good for the server nor will it be implemented.
@ Carnivore: Nice ideas, but you forgot that NPCs could also support human players in pvp's - of course are they those HC-Seths - and kill everyone who's nearby you. Isn't it awesome?
