Titel: lancer/canoballs

some1 know, except the damage, is a difference between lancer and canoball missile? Looking at stats there is no difference, are the same, except the damage. But i heard lancers are faster or anyway can be a difference. |

lancer are faster an have a better turning rate....
cb is a kind of torpedo for guy who have no torpedo slot left |

I think the lancers move a bit faster, but it doesn't make that much difference when it comes to PvP.
Speaking for myself (and many other players), we use Lancers because they are SO much cheaper than Cannonballs.
Lancers can also be mounted on smaller ships, which makes the Banshee quite a fearsome animal. |

im a canoball guy and i saw need to launch them when enemy is verry close... but against expertw with wasps prolly or shoting like hell i have no chance... Also the lag is good for a canoball guy or no? |

In all my 3 years of using missles, i used sometimes Cannonballs, sometimes Lancers, no difference in moving was found so that bs that lancers move faster and better turn.
Many ppl use them because 2 lancers are cheaper than 1 cannonball, so that makes them more effective than cannonballs i think its because of velocity lancers do 80 -100% damage so u need sometimes just 1 lancer too kill Eagle.
Conclusion Cannoballs are waste of money. |

Everyone's entitled to their oppinion.
Both missiles have their time and place. It's true that the turn speed and velocity are not very important when you launch 100m from target, but at the end of the day, so's money when you're level 89. I'm level 40, so CBs are too expensive for me -- if I could afford them, I'd fly them.
CB's will take out an Eagle in one shot. I haven't yet seen a Lancer do that.
The flip side is that being Wasped when you Lancer is nowhere near as painful as being wasped when you're CB-ing |

what is this "turn rate"? these missile just go in the direction u shooting or a missile turn and follow the enemy? i dont think so |

of course they follow the enemy..!
if the serverload is too high however, missiles dont really lock on the enemy anymore and so become useless. but that does not happen really often on this server anymore. (have a look at the serverload, greater than 60msec is bad for missiles) |

Missiles are homing, but you don't get to see that much during PvP because the ships usually fly head-to-head, often with afterburners, and the missile doesn't have time to re-adjust.
Try firing a missile when you chase an enemy ship in a mission -- you'll see how the missile follows its target and adjusts its course... |

They both have their place. Don't be fooled into thinking that if you have missiles you have more firepower. Just like mines, missiles can be a hazard to yourself as well! My guns only character loves it when people use missiles against him. That's what the Wasp/Hornet is for! |

In a PvP the missiles are relative since the acceleration is used and with this you avoid the missiles without having to send countermeasures, serve if they are sent to short distance and when you are exceeding on the contrary, like the mines.
I throw is that generally the armament that is used is 2 tizonas and 4 nomads, in a cadence of initial firings leave you without shields and if you do not react fast they eliminate to you. |

I have a question: I am currently lvl 38, fly an Eagle and use 4 nomad cannons and 2 Wyrm Type II. I tried to use Tizona but it won't fire! I tried to mount 2 Tizona's and it's the same. Why won't they fire?

I'm surprised to hear they don't fire!!
There is a bug in Freelancer which means that the "bullets" of the Tizona are not visible. To be absolutely sure you're not firing, disable all weapons but the Tiz. You should still be able to hear it and see the damage it does to other people's shields. |
